CONFIDENCE IN CONTENT: A VISUAL LOVE LETTER TO CURVY WOMEN IN COUTURE
In a world that often sidelines curvy bodies in fashion storytelling, Confidence in Content emerges as a bold and beautiful act of reclamation. Founded by Brieana Ofosu of Bella & Co Beauty in partnership with style visionary Nalema Ross of Mimi’s Closet, the series is both a creative shoot and a cultural statement, and centers full-figured women in modern, high-fashion looks and immersive content experiences.
The inaugural event brought together 10 dynamic women of diverse backgrounds for a day of community, creation, and celebration. Some were seasoned models; others stepped in front of the camera professionally for the very first time-like bride-to-be Chynna, who stunned in every frame just weeks before her wedding day.
“Confidence to me means to shine as bright as you can every day without a care for who is watching or what they think,” she shared. “To walk with your head high, comfortable in who you are. Believing in the best you, in every shirt, skirt, or dress. Forget the stereotypes, be you and turn heads — because confidence isn’t just a word, it’s a feeling and a lifestyle.”
Styled head to toe in curated pieces from Mimi’s Closet and adorned with bold statement jewelry from Bella & Co Beauty, each participant received professional model coaching, luxury gift boxes, and media-ready content to elevate their personal and professional brands.
For Tanisha Frazier, a professional freelance model based in New Jersey, confidence is a lived experience that walks into the room before she does.
“Confidence to me means fully owning who I am, flaws and all. Showing up as my best self no matter what room I walk into. Trusting my abilities, standing tall in my truth, and letting my presence and personality speak before I even say a word.”
For Crystal Williams, Development Director at New Bethany Ministries in the Lehigh Valley, confidence is something sacred and evolving:
“Confidence, for me, is still unfolding. I’m deeply rooted in who I am, who I belong to—God—and the purpose He placed inside me. The outer expression is still taking shape, but I’m learning that confidence isn’t about perfection but embracing the journey.”
The shoot was hosted inside The Influence Warehouse — a creative studio nestled in Coplay, PA — and captured in editorial-style portraits, behind-the-scenes footage, and short-form videos tailored for digital and print platforms, including forthcoming curve-centered media placements.
For Rhonda Thomas Boothe — Mrs. Runaway Royalty for NEPA 2024, Innastar Trailblazer Award Model of the Year Nominee, Master’s degree holder in Psychology, certified life coach, and mental health first aider — style is more than surface. It’s soulful.
“My style and confidence is a reflection of my vibrant spirit which is rooted in the rhythms and colors of my island upbringing. So my look is always colorful and confident! Every piece I wear tells a story of life that is bold, free and full.” She adds with a wink, “My motto is: don’t ask if I’m wearing heels — just know I’m always elevated in power!”
For Nikita Hansford -Certified Life Purpose Coach, Producer, and CEO of Unhinged Live Podcast - the experience was a spiritual extension of her purpose:
“Confidence means honoring the God in me with how I represent myself when I walk out of my home daily. It's in the way I dress, the way I walk, and in the way I smile and speak life into those I encounter. For me, confidence starts with the soul.”
For Latavia Fields — Behavior Specialist and CEO of Snatchedd Shapewear - confidence is not a trend, it’s a daily decision to take up space with pride:
“Confidence means owning my worth unapologetically, regardless of society’s narrow standards of beauty. It’s not just about how I look — it’s how I show up in this world of double standards. Self-acceptance means loving my body as it is. Style without apology means wearing bold colors, prints, crop tops, or bikinis not because I have something to prove, but because I want to.”
Founder Brieana Ofosu, a multimedia journalist, mompreneur, and CEO of Bella & Co Beauty, reflects on the roots of the brand that helped bring this vision to life:
“I started this brand back in 2017, selling lashes and items for your makeup bag — simple things — just from being a dark-skinned, plus-size woman with 4C hair who didn’t see people like me backstage or on beauty teams. This has been a labor of love and a testament to my journey in confidence and helping others feel SEEN. We deserve that.”
But beyond the clothes and the camera, Confidence in Content is rooted in something deeper — the belief that confidence is not a trend, but a personal revolution. Each woman was invited to share what confidence means to her, resulting in a powerful archive of quotes, images, and stories that speak to strength, softness, and self-ownership.
Monai Smith — Mother, Maker, Mentor, and Founder of M. Ashanti Crafts —stated that this shoot was a testament to confidence, power, and visibility within her story.
“I haven’t always felt confident, but I’ve learned that my voice, my story, and my presence deserve to be seen and heard. Confidence is choosing to love myself loudly.”
The experience also served as a launching pad for new voices in fashion and content creation, like Shaquona Terry, the voice behind Real Conversation Podcast, who stepped into modeling for the first time during the shoot:
“Confidence isn’t about fitting a mold. It’s about standing in your truth, no matter your size, and knowing you are worthy of every spotlight.”
From shimmering gowns to denim looks with edge, the visual language of the shoot is unapologetically feminine, stylish, and affirming. With a built-in media team, real-time styling support, and a set designed for empowerment, every woman left with more than just images — she left with a memory, a moment, and a movement behind her.
To close the chapter on this inaugural experience, Confidence in Content co-creator and fashion visionary Nalema Ross, a model, published author, and CEO of Mimi’s Closet, shares the full-circle power of her journey:
“Mimi's Closet started out as a short story for my creative writing class and evolved into a published book—to a fashion brand. I’ve always had a love for fashion since I was a little girl, dressing up dolls and friends. As I grew older, my love for fashion grew stronger—but so did my body. I had to learn to embrace my new curves and figure. That didn’t stop me from growing my closet — and now, I want to share it. I want to help women of all shapes and sizes put GREAT looks together.”
Confidence in Content is more than a photoshoot. It’s a growing sisterhood, a curated safe space, and a powerful reminder that when women feel seen — they show up. Boldly. Beautifully. Unapologetically
