Allow me to introduce an expert poised to enlighten and captivate your audience on all facets of hair care!

Meet Melessa Denee, Owner and Styling Artist, boasting over three decades of experience in the dynamic cosmetology realm. Her clientele spans across multiple states, from Delaware to California, attesting to her exceptional skills and dedication. Melessa's journey in the industry commenced as a cosmetology apprentice in Delaware back in 1988, culminating in the establishment of her award-winning salons: "Melessa’s Ultimate Hair Design" in Delaware during the 1990s and "Melessa’s Weave Palace" in Baltimore, MD in 2009.

Specializing in creating glamorous hairstyles, Melessa's expertise shines in weaving, hair extensions, and crafting custom-made wigs using premium 100% Virgin Indian, Brazilian, and Persian Remi Hair. Continuously honing her craft, she has augmented her repertoire through extensive training in hair weaving, wig making, makeup application, and precision hair cutting. Melessa's compassionate approach extends to clients experiencing severe hair loss, where she offers bespoke solutions including custom-made wigs, lace wigs, hair extensions, and specialized hair and scalp treatments.

QSM: What inspired you to enter the cosmetology industry, and how has your journey evolved since your early days as an apprentice in Delaware?

Melessa: I was inspired to become a cosmetologist after college, but my formal training began in high school. I would do all of the local students in school and some ladies from church! After attending Virginia State University, and developing a strong clientele in my dorm room, I knew that my career was going to be in the beauty industry of some sort. From the days of doing an apprenticeship to now, God has ordered my steps and planted my feet in my career, where I can help other women, men and children!

QSM: Could you share some insights into the significance of Good Hair Day and its impact on women's empowerment and self-esteem?

Melessa: As we all know, our hair is our glory. If you look good, you feel good. A great hair day not only makes you look good on the outside, but it makes you feel amazing on the inside, which is a confidence booster daily. There is no such thing as good hair because we all were blessed by God with the hair we have at birth. I believe the goodness begins with us on the inside.

QSM: Your salons have garnered acclaim over the years. What do you attribute to the success of "Melessa’s Ultimate Hair Design" and "Melessa’s Weave Palace" in Delaware and Baltimore, respectively?

Melessa: The success to both locations has been God first! I believe I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. Talents and gifts will take you far, but perseverance and faith will carry you a long way.

QSM: Your specialization lies in creating glamorous hairstyles, particularly focusing on weaves, extensions, and custom-made wigs. How do you stay current with evolving trends and techniques in the ever-changing beauty landscape?

Melessa: As a licensed Cosmetologist, Hair loss expert and a Hair replacement specialist I stay relevant by keeping my skill set up to par, paying attention to the trends, knowing what will stay and stick in our industry and knowing what is just a fad.

But most of all allowing my hands to do what God has ordained them to do! My greatest gifts have been hair restoration and Nonsurgical hair replacement, blessing men, women, and children!

QSM: With your formal training in Fashion Designs/Fashion Merchandising from Virginia State University, how has your background influenced your approach to hairstyling and salon management?

Melessa: While at Virginia State, I basically operated a salon in my room. I booked clients, I managed money, and I was able to financially support myself while in college outside of tuition, room and board which my parents took care of! I also made clothes for fraternities, sororities, pageants, balls, cabarets, and of course, all of my colleagues so I basically ran two businesses out of my dorm room!

QSM: Could you shed light on the challenges and rewards of serving clients with severe hair loss, and how your expertise has enabled you to address their unique needs effectively?

Melessa: The only challenge I find in servicing some of my clients is that I want to service them all and it’s not enough time in the day because my heart is so big, and I love what I do. Each individual is different and have different hair loss needs. l have observed so many different types. It would take me forever to explain each one, but you must be knowledgeable of your craft, and service each person individually. Giving them the best you have to offer and what is best for them!

Love and compassion.

QSM: What advice would you offer to aspiring cosmetologists looking to carve out a successful career in the industry, based on your wealth of experience spanning multiple states and specialties?

Melessa: My advice would be follow your heart, use your gifts that God has given you, know your craft and do it with passion or don’t do it at all.

QSM: Where can people follow your journey and possibly book your services:

Melessa: My IG is @miraclebarbiemd
