R.I.P. TO THE NAKED PALETTE
Say Goodbye to the Naked Palette
Urban Decay is discontinuing its Naked Palette. Booooooooo, I hope this means that have something just as good or better coming down the pipelines. I have to say, I am just getting into makeup products so I have one of their palettes that I absolutely love. Why oh why must you go? I am just getting to know you. Reportedly, Kate Middleton and even Michelle Obama loved them as well.
The neutral palette made its debut in 2010, and in the years since, Urban Decay birthed siblings such as the Naked2, Naked3, Naked Heat, Petite Heat, Naked Basics, and Naked2 Basics. After over a billion dollars in sales, or about 30 million palettes later, the time has come to say goodbye.
“Saying goodbye to Naked is extremely bittersweet,” said Wende Zomnir, founding partner of Urban Decay, in a statement. “It was a big moment in our history. It’s a little painful to leave your past behind, but it’s also essential to always evolve. I will forever miss Naked, but we plan to turn the grief into even more greatness. Urban Decay will continue to thrive in Naked’s memory and honor — just wait and see.”
I guess this does mean they have something better in the works; can’t wait to see.
The brand held a funeral (yes I said a funeral) to say goodbye. In attendance to mourn the loss were were some industry gurus and fans such Kandee Johnson, Christen Dominique, Katy DeGroot, Shayla Mitchell, Chrisspy, and Urban Decay brand ambassador Nicole Richie.
Don’t wait… pick you up a few of your favorite palettes before they are all gone. Beginning August 23, the original Naked palette will be 50% off across all retailers. Continue to watch out for those sales.
