The Elegant Fantasies Fashion Presentation and Networking event

The Elegant Fantasies Fashion Presentation and Networking event was nothing short of ELEGANT. Azure Marie Fashions showcased some of their amazing designs in Philadelphia, PA on August 20, 2017 to a packed room of industry professionals and supporters. I have seen some of their previous lines but what I saw that night blew me away. I love their attention to detail and attention to the wants/needs of buyers. Every piece that came out had the crowd pointing and clapping. You could hear people in the audience yelling “I want that”, or “I can definitely see myself in that” and “that is gorgeous”.

It was a show that you wanted to attend, not only because you knew you were going to be in for a treat (if you know Azure Marie), but because of the cause itself. A portion of the proceeds from the show was donated to HEALING HURT PEOPLE at Drexel University College of Medicine.

Healing Hurt People is a hospital-based violence intervention program designed to reduce re-injury and retaliation among youths ages 8 to 30 in Philadelphia. It is the cornerstone program of Drexel's Center for Nonviolence and Social Justice, whose mission is to decrease violence and trauma through public health policy, practice research and training. The program was created by an interdisciplinary team consisting of an emergency room physician, an internist, a psychiatrist, a social worker and a psychologist with extensive expertise in violence prevention and trauma.

With this interdisciplinary approach, Healing Hurt People addresses the needs — physical, emotional and social — that victims of violence face after being released from the emergency department. Rather than addressing the needs of young victims of violence as a criminal justice concern only, Healing Hurt People strives to shift the perspective to include public health concerns.

The program is currently affiliated with the Emergency Department at Hahnemann University Hospital and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.

Healing Hurt People is a program that is near and dear to Shardae’s heart. As a social worker and Community Intervention Specialist at Hahnemann Hospital, she is also a part of the team of HHP and she is helping to heal hurt people. She knows firsthand about the lack of funding so she took matters into her own hands; the major purpose behind The Elegant Fantasies Fashion Presentation and Networking event.
